An Insight into Garden Design with The Cotswold Gardening School - Workshop and Spring Garden Tour

Product code: EVT01873

Tuesday 12th February 2019.

Caroline Tatham, founder and Principal of the Cotswold Gardening School, will be joining us at Highgrove this Spring to run a series of inspiring gardening courses, including ‘An Insight into Garden Design’.

This one-day theoretical course will explain the creative process and practical methods that underpin the key aspects of professional garden design. No previous experience is necessary, as Caroline, an award-winning garden designer in her own right, will guide you through the important steps of site surveys and appraisals, the creation of mood boards, finding and channelling inspiration, using sketchbooks to develop your creativity, and working with shape and pattern. In this fun and relaxed day course Caroline will give you the tools to design the perfect garden yourself and show you how to assess your existing garden and how you can better reorganise the space.

Learn to design like the professionals!

Caroline’s friendly and engaging teaching methods will help you to grasp the basics with ease and enjoyment, and will include real examples of Caroline’s busy design practice at Gossington Hall near Slimbridge. Part of the course will also cover how to present your ideas to a professional standard with layout plans, computer modelling and 3D visuals, giving you invaluable insight into how the professionals work.

A dream day out for budding garden designers!

This inspiring and informative day will include a delicious seasonal two-course lunch, served in the Orchard Room and cooked by Highgrove’s Orchard Room’s chefs, as well as time for questions over coffee at the end of the day. The Estate Shop will also be open on the day for you to browse, where you’ll find an array of seasonal plants, beautiful home and garden ware, and many other artisan products from around the UK, including pieces that have been designed exclusively for Highgrove.

This course is a great way to kick off the gardening season, or give as a gift to budding garden designers.
