Looking at hellebores, the heralds of spring, join Helen Allen, world-renowned and experienced tutor to capture the delights and beauty of these wonderful blooms in watercolour through carefully planned and executed stages.

Hellebore blooms are some of the stars of the winter and early spring garden. Using a step-by-step format over three days, with demonstrations and individual guidance you will learn how to capture their essence.

This three-day workshop introduces basic techniques and materials for creating botanical watercolours. Topics will include observation and drawing, creating form, mixing and basic watercolour techniques.

Highgrove – One of the most inspiring gardens of our time

Highgrove’s gardens come alive in spring and on each day you’ll be able to explore some of the iconic parts of the stunning gardens with one of HRH’s expert guides. You will have a special glimpse into the life of HRH The Prince of Wales and learn how The Prince has lovingly crafted the gardens to exist in harmony with nature.

About Helen Allen

Helen trained originally as a textile designer and studied at the English Gardening School in London. In 2014 she founded The Chelsea School of Botanical Art at the Chelsea Physic Garden. She has exhibited at galleries across the world and her work is featured in the HRH The Prince of Wales’s Highgrove and Transylvanian Florilegium.


Day 1

  • 9.30 Arrival, tea and coffee served in the ante room
  • 10:00am A short garden tour to see Highgrove’s own hellibores in situ
  • 11:00am Morning session
  • 12.30pm Lunch
  • 1.30pm Afternoon session
  • 4.30pm Close

Day 2

  • 9.30am Tea and coffee served in the ante room
  • 11:00am Morning session
  • 12.30pm Lunch and a 45 minute guided tour of the gardens
  • 1.30pm Afternoon session
  • 4.30pm Close

Day 3

  • 9.30am Tea and coffee served in the ante room
  • 10:00am Morning session
  • 12.30pm Lunch and a 45 minute guided tour of the gardens
  • 1.30pm Afternoon session
  • 4.00pm Close and the opportunity to visit the Estate shop

Lunch & Refreshments:

Refreshments will be served on arrival each day and will be available throughout the day, including delicious homemade cakes.

Lunch will also be served, freshly made each day by Highgrove’s own chefs.



Event Ticket Delivery Information

Ticket Delivery times: we aim to deliver your tickets to mainland UK addresses, approximately 1 week before the event. Please ensure you have completed all your guest names prior to arriving at the event.

e-Tickets: If your ticket is an e-ticket this will be emailed to you when you place your order providing you have completed all guest names. However, if you have not completed all your guest names an email reminder will be sent.

Tracking: Posted tickets will usually need to be signed for at the delivery address. A tracking link will be sent with your email dispatch confirmation if applicable. We cannot pass additional delivery instructions to our carriers. If no one is available to sign for your delivery (UK only) a card will be left and your order will be taken to your local Royal Mail Delivery Office for you to collect.
