Product code: EVT01462

Wednesday 21st March 2018  - 10:30am

Enjoy an inspirational talk from multi-award winning RHS Chelsea star, Arne Maynard, along with a delicious two-course lunch and guided tour of the gardens at Highgrove.

Formality and Informality

Arne Maynard is famed for designing gardens that play with the balance between formality and informality. He perfectly combines these two principles by setting informal and romantic planting schemes against the enduring strength of formal structure. The result is a perfect balance between strong lines and lush plantings, between atmosphere and romanticism.

In this exclusive talk, Arne will speak about a selection of his garden projects and how they have matured, with particular focus on his own garden at Allt-y-bela in Monmouthshire, which perfectly showcases how the layers of formality and informality play their roles in his own designs.

Dine and Explore

Following your talk with Arne Maynard you’ll enjoy a glass of Highgrove Champagne served with delicious canapes, before being seated in the beautiful setting of the Orchard Restaurant for a two-course lunch, freshly prepared by the estate’s resident chefs.

After lunch, one of HRH The Prince of Wales’s expert garden guides will then lead you in groups on a 75 minute garden tour, where you’ll learn about the history of the estate while taking in the key highlights of the gardens, including breathtaking displays of Spring bulbs.

About Arne Maynard

Arne is an international garden designer, working with clients across the world and believes that to succeed, a garden must relate and respond to its surrounding landscape, its history and to the buildings within and around its confines, as well as to the needs of its owners.

His garden designs draw on a wide range of references from architecture to garden history, and from interior design to often long-forgotten traditional crafts and techniques.
Arne is currently in the process of designing and landscaping the garden surrounding his beautiful medieval tower house at Allt y bela, in Monmouthshire, South Wales.
