Enjoy a talk from Matthew Wilson, award-winning garden designer, writer and radio and television broadcaster on the principles of making a garden, before enjoying a delicious two-course lunch and guided tour of the gardens at Highgrove.

Making a Garden – The Essential Principles

Matthew Wilson, winner of the People’s Choice Award at RHS Chelsea 2016 and regular BBC Gardeners Question Time panellist, will illustrate the principles of making a garden using examples of his design projects over the last two decades, including his two Chelsea Flower Show gardens and his work at RHS Gardens Hyde Hall and Harlow Carr.

Following your talk with Matthew Wilson you’ll enjoy a glass of Highgrove Champagne served with delicious canapes, before being seated in the beautiful setting of the Orchard Restaurant for a two-course lunch, freshly prepared by Highgrove’s resident chefs.

After lunch, one of HRH The Prince of Wales’s expert garden guides will lead you in groups on a 75 minute garden tour, where you’ll learn about the history of the estate while taking in the key highlights of the gardens, including breathtaking displays of Spring bulbs.

About Matthew Wilson

Matthew spent ten years with the Royal Horticultural Society as Curator of Hyde Hall Garden and Head of Site and Curator of Harlow Carr Garden. 
He has designed two show gardens at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Matthew’s first show garden at Chelsea Flower Show was an arid, zero irrigation ‘dry garden’ highlighting how important water management is in the way we garden today.

In 2016, his show garden, entitled ‘God’s Own Country – A Garden for Yorkshire’ which showcased the wealth of stunning scenery, iconic heritage, deep-rooted industries and skilled tradespeople that Yorkshire has to offer. His garden won the esteemed People’s Choice Award at the show.
Alongside Matthew’s main work as a landscape designer he also writes extensively in the media, is a regular correspondent for the Financial Times and has been a regular panelist on Radio 4’s Gardeners Question Time since 2009.

Ticket Delivery times: we aim to deliver your tickets to mainland UK addresses, approximately 1 week before the event. Please ensure you have completed all your guest names prior to arriving at the event.

e-Tickets: If your ticket is an e-ticket this will be emailed to you when you place your order providing you have completed all guest names. However, if you have not completed all your guest names an email reminder will be sent.

Tracking: Posted tickets will usually need to be signed for at the delivery address. A tracking link will be sent with your email dispatch confirmation if applicable. We cannot pass additional delivery instructions to our carriers. If no one is available to sign for your delivery (UK only) a card will be left and your order will be taken to your local Royal Mail Delivery Office for you to collect.
