Japanese Acer

While often associated with autumn due to their fiery coloured leaves, Japanese acers are also highly colourful during spring. The Arboretum is home to a number of acer varieties including the Acer x conspicuum ‘Phoenix’ which displays bright pink and orange stems during the spring months.

Acer palmatum has beautiful ruby-coloured leaves and is a maple grown for Spring rather than Autumn

Acers create a spectacle of vibrant leaf colour against the green hues of the Stumpery

The walkways in the Arboretum are lined with groups of Acers
