Caroline Tatham, founder and Principal of the Cotswold Gardening School, will be joining us at Highgrove this Spring to run a series of inspiring gardening courses, including ‘Planning & Planting Borders’ in February 2019.

Through Caroline’s friendly and engaging teaching methods, this one-day theoretical course will clearly lay out the creative and practical challenges of successful planting design and how to overcome them, as well as how to master the process

Discover the importance of colour, form and texture!

Your tutor and award-winning garden designer, Caroline Tatham, will help you to grasp the basics with ease and enjoyment, no matter what your level of experience is. Discover why colour, form and texture are so important in the border and learn how to gather your thoughts using mood boards and where to buy great value plants. Basic colour theory will also be explained, as well as suggestions on effective colour palettes to use when designing planting schemes.

A wonderful day out with a delicious two-course lunch!

This inspiring and informative day will include a delicious two-course lunch served in the Orchard Room, freshly prepared by Highgrove’s in-house chefs. The Estate Shop will also be open on the day for you to browse, where you’ll find an array of seasonal plants, beautiful home and garden ware, and many other artisan products from around the UK, including pieces that have been designed exclusively for Highgrove.

At the end of this memorable day, coffee will be served and there will be time for questions with Caroline, rounding off the perfect way to start the gardening season.


  • 9:30am - Guests arrive & morning coffee is served in the Ante Room
  • 10:00am - Teaching session with Caroline
  • 12:00pm - Two-course lunch is served
  • 1:00pm - 60 minute garden tour
  • 2:00pm - Tea & coffee served
  • 2:15pm - Teaching session resumes
  • 4:15pm - Question time
  • 4:30pm - A chance to visit the estate shop
  • 5:00pm - Guests depart



Event Ticket Delivery Information

Ticket Delivery times: we aim to deliver your tickets to mainland UK addresses, approximately 1 week before the event. Please ensure you have completed all your guest names prior to arriving at the event.

e-Tickets: If your ticket is an e-ticket this will be emailed to you when you place your order providing you have completed all guest names. However, if you have not completed all your guest names an email reminder will be sent.

Tracking: Posted tickets will usually need to be signed for at the delivery address. A tracking link will be sent with your email dispatch confirmation if applicable. We cannot pass additional delivery instructions to our carriers. If no one is available to sign for your delivery (UK only) a card will be left and your order will be taken to your local Royal Mail Delivery Office for you to collect.
