Weaving and Dressing a Table Loom using British Wool is a two-day workshop hosted by Rebecca Connolly and covers the practical skills of setting up a four-shaft table loom and weaving the key weave structures.

This workshop covers the practical skills of setting up a four-shaft table loom and weaving the key weave structures. Rebecca’s vast experience in design will benefit those with previous experience as well as those new to the craft.

This workshop includes a bespoke Garden Tour of Highgrove Gardens.

Weaving and Dressing a Table Loom using British Wool

The workshop is aimed at those who are new to weaving, perhaps before the purchase of a loom, to learn the steps involved in setting up a loom from scratch, those who may have woven before on looms set up for them, and, of course, anyone who may have set up a loom previously but needs a refresher on good technique.

Workshop Overview

Day 1: designing a weave for sampling, making a warp, and setting up or "dressing" a table loom.

Day 2: Weaving samples in the key structures, e.g., plain weave, its derivatives, and twills. Using British Wools both in their natural colour and plant dyed to create woven patterns, experimenting with colour, texture and the characteristics from different sheep breeds.
