Friday 20th and Saturday 21st October 2023
This workshop is aimed at those new to the craft and practitioners with existing experience in weaving and will run over two days. The masterclass will develop weaving skills and knowledge of different British wools, building confidence in design for weaving and understanding production using native wool. Rebecca can offer support to individuals' projects to help them advance their creative ambitions.
Day one will focus on experimenting with different types of British wool, using a body tension loom in plain weave.
On day two, participants will learn more advanced techniques. The day will focus on the design process, and participants will progress on to using Rigid Heddle Looms and Four Shaft Table Looms.
Rebecca Connolly is a local weaver, creating unique hand-woven pieces, collections for exhibitions or designs for commercial production in quantity. She was awarded a Licentiate Membership of The Society of Designer Craftsmen in 2015 and, in 2021, accepted as a member of South West England Fibreshed. She works with British wool and wool producers and teaches weaving and natural dyeing.
