For over 40 years His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales has been a leader in identifying charitable need and setting up and driving forward charities to meet it.

From the early days of The Prince's Trust in the mid-1970s, his charities have grown to represent a broad range of areas including, the Built Environment, the Arts, Responsible Business and Enterprise, Young People, Global Sustainability and Rural Affairs. The Prince of Wales carries out dozens of engagements every year in support of his charities. Collectively The Prince's Charities raise more than £100million annually to transform lives and build sustainable communities in the UK and overseas.

While each of his charities is an independent entity with a separate Board of Trustees, they all work together within “The Prince’s Charities” group. There are 13 Prince's Charities of which The Prince of Wales is President, twelve of which have been founded personally by The Prince of Wales.

The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation (PWCF)

One of The Prince's Charities is The Prince of Wales's Charitable Foundation, which was founded by The Prince of Wales in 1979.

Inspired by His Royal Highness's values of harmony and sustainability, The Prince of Wales's Charitable Foundation aims to transform lives and build sustainable communities.

The foundation acts as a grant-making body that supports a wide range of causes and delivers programmes such as the International Sustainability Unit and Accounting for Sustainability.

Highgrove Enterprises and Duchy Originals Limited are subsidiaries of The Prince of Wales's Charitable Foundation. Profits generated by sales of 'Waitrose Duchy Organic' and Highgrove products, and from events and tours of the Gardens at Highgrove, are donated to the Foundation. This enables the Foundation to support charitable causes and make a strategic impact for good.

Further details on the causes supported by the Foundation and Highgrove Enterprises are available at Small Grant Beneficiaries - The Prince of Wales's Charitable Foundation.
