Emma Stothard - Willow Sculptures

Emma Stothard - Willow Sculptures

Emma Stothard has been invited by HRH The Prince of Wales to display her sculptures on the Orchard Lawns at the Highgrove Estate. The sculptures are influenced by The Prince of Wales’s association with The Rare Breeds Survival Trust and celebrate farming livestock in our British countryside.

Each one is made by hand using British willow that is interwoven and shaped around a steel armature. The contrasting willow colours create form and definition in each animal sculpture. Finally, the piece is then coated in a linseed oil and turpentine solution to preserve and protect it.

Emma Stothard lives and works in Whitby, North Yorkshire and was able to start her business in 2001 with a loan from The Prince’s Trust.
