From Paper to Art: Create Your Own Festive Bauble Design

The workshop begins with a demonstration of how torn pieces of printed paper can be layered, arranged and secured with water-based glue to create rich, textured effects that bring the collage technique to life. Penny will then guide you through sketching a simple outline before you choose your colours and theme to create your own design.

This versatile and accessible technique is all about creativity and experimentation, with no need for perfection. You’ll leave with a unique piece of artwork, ready to frame as a gift or transform into personalised Christmas cards.

  • 9:45am - Guests arrive

About Penny Lindner

Penny Lindner has been creating collage art for many years alongside her career as a photographer, stylist, and graphic artist. In recent years, she has also begun running workshops near her Cotswold hometown of Chipping Campden.

Her journey into collage began with a simple idea: to utilise the paper she already had around the house—magazines, sketchbooks, and other discarded materials. She soon discovered how colour, texture, and pattern could be repurposed to capture the essence of a subject in a playful and unique way. Early still-life studies of fruit and vegetables from her garden evolved into a broader exploration of themes, with each piece becoming a distinctive work of mixed-media art.

The process of selecting and arranging paper is both immersive and rewarding, with striking results. Because the materials are easy to source and the techniques accessible, Penny’s workshops often inspire students to continue experimenting at home and discover the joy of collage for themselves.

Important Information

  • All materials will be provided.
  • Guests will not be admitted without a valid ticket.
  • If you have any special dietary requirements or require information on disability access, please contact the events team at events@highgrovegardens.com.
  • Tickets cannot be exchanged, refunded, or replaced. Reselling, altering, or defacing a ticket will render it void.
  • Guests are required to bring photographic identification (i.e., a passport, driving license, or bus pass). Alternatively, a bank card or a utility bill.
  • The use of mobile phones and cameras is restricted to certain areas of the Estate, which will be explained to you on entry. Binoculars and other forms of recording equipment are not allowed for security reasons.
  • Smoking (including vaping) is not permitted anywhere on the Estate.
  • Please do not bring dogs onto the Estate (only assistance and guide dogs permitted).
