These earrings are hand-made by skilled craftspeople in Afghanistan with the support of Turquoise Mountain, founded by His Majesty King Charles III in 2006. The blue Azita leaf earrings are named after the Persian feminine given name, which means "free woman" and "Goddess of Fire".
These hook-fastening earrings are a part of the Tahima jewellery collection, inspired by Afghan heritage and culture. The collection takes its name from a princess in the epic Shahnameh poem. It features a delicate, bold green onyx leaf inspired by the ornamentation found in the Noh Gunbad mosque in Afghanistan. The design echoes the hand-carved stucco that decorates the mosque's columns and archways. The semi-precious lapis lazuli stone used in the earrings reflects the colours used in the mosque's decoration.
