Inspired by the timeless architecture of Highgrove House, the Highgrove House Insect Hotel is a beautifully handcrafted piece created in collaboration with Woodpecker Joinery.
Designed to bring charm, purpose, and natural harmony to your garden, this elegant wooden insect hotel provides a safe haven for solitary bees, ladybirds, and butterflies, essential pollinators that contribute to the ecosystem and biodiversity.
Each insect hotel is handmade in Staffordshire using offcuts from the Woodpecker Joinery workshop, reflecting Highgrove’s commitment to sustainability and the environment. Constructed from Western Red Cedar with stainless steel fixings, this eco-conscious design requires no maintenance. Over time, the wood gently ages into a soft silver patina, settling beautifully into its surroundings and blending effortlessly with nature. A stylish, sustainable addition to any garden, it encourages wildlife, supports pollinators, and enhances outdoor harmony.

The Highgrove hedgehog home provides a safe retreat for hedgehogs. With its gently sloping roof and concealed internal entrance, it offers the perfect sanctuary for these wonderful wildlife friends. This design helps protect them from predators and promotes wildlife conservation. The hotel aims to help re-establish the declining hedgehog population by providing a secure shelter. Additionally, hedgehogs benefit gardeners by feeding on slugs and snails, offering a natural solution to pest control.
While it is cosy for the long winter months, the hedgehog home also features ventilation holes to facilitate airflow. The secure roof can be opened for inspection and cleaning, helping to keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter. The box can be used as a nesting site in spring and summer and as shelter from poor weather and predators until the hedgehogs enter hibernation in autumn and winter.
This hedgehog house is exclusively made for Highgrove from recycled cedar timber sourced from leftover materials from other manufacturing processes. The use of cedar wood ensures a long lifespan without the need for chemical preservatives. Over time, the hedgehog hotel will naturally age to a silver-grey colour, allowing it to blend seamlessly into the garden environment.
