Start your day with an inspiring block printing demonstration by Marea from Art of Jaipur, where you’ll learn the art and techniques before diving into hands-on practice. Once ready, unleash your creativity as you print on your chosen fabric, specially designed for upholstering your footstool. With a fantastic selection of wooden blocks and colours at your fingertips, you can craft a design that’s truly one-of-a-kind and perfectly suited to your home decor.

Workshop with a two-course lunch

After an immersive morning of creativity, indulge in a delightful two-course lunch. Surrounded by the beauty of nature and the echoes of your artistic endeavours, savour a meal that complements the day's experiences. Finish the day with a glass of fizz while admiring your footstool creations!

Craft Your Personalised Footstool

After lunch, you’ll dive into an engaging step-by-step guide on how to craft and upholster your footstool. Marea and Helen from Art of Jaipur will be your friendly instructors, sharing their expertise in upholstery as they walk you through the process of building your footstool from scratch.

What’s more, you’ll have the opportunity to choose from various stylish legs, allowing you to create a design that reflects your personal taste and beautifully complements your block-printed fabric. By the end of the session, you’ll have a lovely footstool measuring approximately 12 inches in length and 9 inches in width. The height will be uniquely yours, depending on the legs you select! Get ready to unleash your creativity and craft something special!

Programme

  • 9:45am - Guests arrive; refreshments are served
  • 10:00am - Introduction and block printing demonstration
  • 10:30am - Guests block print their own fabric
  • 12:30pm - Two-course lunch
  • 1:15pm - Footstool making overview and demonstration
  • 1:45pm - Guests assemble their own footstool base
  • 2:45pm - Guests upholster their footstool using their block-printed fabric
  • 4:30pm - Celebrate with a glass of fizz

Originally hailing from Yorkshire, Marea has found her happy haven in West Oxfordshire. Embracing a newfound chapter of life as an empty nester, she seized the opportunity to channel her creativity into a venture close to her heart. Thus, Art of Jaipur, a small business, was born.

Passion fuels Marea's journey as she delves into crafting, dedicating herself to fashioning exquisite pieces for both home and garden. Expanding beyond her creativity, Marea now orchestrates workshops in picturesque rural locales across Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, and West Berkshire. The workshops, focusing on Candle Making and Indian Block Printing, embody Marea's commitment to sharing her passion with others.

  • Please do not bring dogs onto the Estate (only assistance and guide dogs are permitted). Cars with dogs will be turned away.
