Discover the pleasures and challenges of gardening at Ham Court, Matthew Rice’s Cotswold estate, where a productive garden, orchard and small farmyard follow the changing seasons.

All profits support The King's Foundation's work.

In 2012, Matthew Rice bought Ham Court, an estate in the Cotswold village of Bampton, set among the historic remains of medieval Bampton Castle. Spanning several acres, the garden features an orchard, paddock, productive greenhouse and small farmyard, each contributing to the changing rhythm of life throughout the year.

Through the seasons, Matthew shares the everyday experiences of gardening, from planning and planting to harvesting and navigating the inevitable challenges along the way. Combining personal anecdotes with practical advice and recipes inspired by seasonal produce, he offers an engaging insight into life at Ham Court and celebrates the simple pleasures of cultivating a garden, cooking with home-grown ingredients and living in tune with the natural world.
