A hardy breed with excellent stamina, this Dartmoor pony willow sculpture will stand the test of British weather just as the real ponies do on the Devonshire hills. Best placed in a wide-open space, the brown willow intertwined with bronze wire will look magnificent against lush green lawns.
Hand-crafted by talented artist Emma Stothard, who was able to start up her business with a loan from The Prince’s Trust, was invited by His Majesty The King to exhibit her willow sculptures on the Orchard Lawns at Highgrove.
Sculpted from British willow, interwoven with wire and bronze wire and shaped around a steel armature, the contrasting willow colours in this Dartmoor pony create form and definition. Each sculpture is finished with a coating of linseed oil and turpentine solution to preserve and protect it.
