HRH The Prince of Wales manages the gardens and estate at Highgrove with the strictest sustainable principles. Ethical management of the gardens and recycling of all waste materials ensure they thrive in complete harmony with nature. Rainwater is used for irrigation and a specially designed reed bed sewage system manages the estate’s wastewater. Solar panels are used for heating, while composting and natural fertilisers ensure the garden is as self-sufficient and environmental as possible.
The Highgrove Estate is also the location of Home Farm, a centre of excellence for organic farming.
