Join expert silversmith Fiona Dowling from Jewellery Moves for a full day of hands-on silversmithing, where you'll create your own sterling silver bangle or cuff beautifully set with sea glass. Fiona will guide you through each stage of the process, helping you craft a unique piece to treasure.

Also included in this workshop is a two-course lunch served in the Garden Room.

Please note this is a one-day workshop. The price of silver is not included in the workshop price. Guests will be charged on the day depending on how much silver they use, typically ranging from £40 to £90.

What you'll learn

Throughout the workshop, Fiona will guide you through the fundamental techniques of silversmithing, enabling you to create up to three finished pieces.

Choose from 2mm or 3mm sterling silver wire to create bangles, or 8mm or 10mm sterling silver cuff blanks. You'll also learn how to make a bezel setting from scratch to securely set a piece of sea glass onto your bangle or cuff, or create a sea glass charm. There will also be the opportunity to personalise your jewellery with hand-stamped details, making each piece truly unique.

By the end of the day, you'll leave with new silversmithing skills, up to three beautiful handcrafted sterling silver bangles or cuffs featuring sea glass, and the confidence to continue exploring jewellery making.

About Fiona

Fiona Dowling is a jewellery designer and silversmith who runs pop-up jewellery workshops across the South of England.

Fiona holds a BA in Jewellery and Silversmithing from Edinburgh College of Art and an MA in Jewellery and Silversmithing from the Royal College of Art. Drawing on her extensive training and experience, she has reimagined the traditional jewellery workshop by replacing individual workbenches with a shared table, where participants face one another, exchange ideas, share tools and enjoy conversation as they create.

Her workshops are relaxed, welcoming and collaborative, encouraging creativity and connection while teaching the fundamental techniques of silversmithing. Participants leave not only with beautiful handcrafted jewellery, but also with new skills, confidence and lasting memories.

Important Information

  • This event is suitable for all levels, with no experience necessary.
  • Silver is not included in the workshop fee, giving you the flexibility to create as much or as little as you like. Material costs typically range from £40–£90 and are payable directly to the tutor at the end of the session.
  • Guests will not be admitted without a valid ticket.
  • Tickets cannot be exchanged, refunded, or replaced. The resale, alteration, or defacing of a ticket will render it void.
  • Guests are required to bring photographic identification (i.e., a passport, driving license, or bus pass). Alternatively, a bank card is acceptable.
  • Although guests will be dining from a set menu, if you do have any dietary requirements, food intolerances, or allergies, please inform the events team no later than 2 weeks prior to your visit via events@highgrovegardens.com.
  • Please note that this workshop includes shared seating while dining, with all guests seated together at a table in the Garden Room.
