The art of mindful gardening

Join August Beth from The Raymond Blanc Gardening School for a mindful gardening workshop inspired by her journey from a career in the skies to a life rooted in the garden. Through personal stories and practical guidance, August shares how gardening can become a powerful tool for improving wellbeing, building confidence and encouraging personal growth.

With your hands in the soil, you'll sow a selection of micro herb seeds, each representing a future wish, hope or aspiration. This simple act of planting invites you to slow down, be present and embrace the positive impact that nurturing plants can have on both mind and body.

At the end of the workshop, you'll take home your own pot of micro herbs to grow on your windowsill, serving as a living reminder that, with care, patience and belief, even the smallest seeds can flourish.

Workshop with Garden Tour

This workshop includes a 90-minute guided walk around the royal gardens with one of our expert garden guides. During this walk, you will have the opportunity to admire the flora and fauna in the gardens. This is a wonderful chance to immerse yourself in your surroundings, enjoying the sights, smells, and colours of the gardens while incorporating these elements into your micro herbs.

Refreshments in the Garden Room

After your tour and alongside a Q&A with August, you will have time to dine in the elegant surroundings of the Garden Room, where you can indulge in a delicious cream tea.

About August

August Beth is Head Tutor at The Raymond Blanc Gardening School at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Oxfordshire, where she inspires aspiring gardeners through practical, hands-on learning. After an 18-year career as cabin crew with Virgin Atlantic, August discovered a passion for gardening following a visit to Le Manoir's renowned kitchen garden. Despite having no formal horticultural experience, her enthusiasm and home-grown produce secured her a role as a Kitchen Gardener in 2019. She has since gained her horticultural qualifications and now leads workshops at the gardening school.

Passionate about making gardening accessible to all, August also founded Seed Explorers, a range of growing kits designed to encourage children and families to discover the joy of growing their own food. She regularly delivers workshops and speaks at festivals, flower shows and events, sharing how gardening can support wellbeing, boost confidence and inspire positive change.
